Why parents come to us
Two very different children. One approach that works for both.
Losing confidence in maths?
If homework ends in tears, marks are slipping, or your child has decided they’re “just not a maths person” — we rebuild the foundations gently and bring the confidence back.
Bored and unchallenged?
Some children finish the work and switch off. We give them richer problems, puzzles and real engineering challenges — stretching them without it feeling like more school.
Maths that’s understood, not just memorised.
Most tutors offer homework help. We teach maths the way an engineer actually uses it — through bridges, roads, buildings, water flow, maps, shapes and design. When a child sees why maths works, the rules finally make sense and they remember them.

How lessons work
Small groups. Real attention. Healthy momentum.
Lessons run with just two children at a time. Your child still gets close, personal attention — but learns alongside one other, which builds motivation and the confidence that comes from solving problems together.
- Groups of two — personal attention with gentle peer motivation
- Start with an assessment — a clear learning plan from day one
- CAPS-aligned, weekday afternoons · Grades 2–7
Simple, transparent pricing
R300 / hour
per lesson, in a pair of two learners
New families start with a maths assessment — a 30-minute one-on-one session and a short written feedback report, so we begin with a clear plan.

Where we teach
Our story
Started by a mother. Continued by an engineer.
My mother started I Can Maths to help children believe they could succeed at maths. That belief — that every child can — is still at the heart of everything we do.
I’m now building on that foundation here in Cape Town’s Northern Suburbs, combining her passion for teaching with my 15 years of civil engineering experience. I’ve spent my career using maths to design and build real things — and I bring that same practical thinking to every lesson.
The result is maths that makes sense: children catch up, find their confidence, and discover that maths is something they can actually do.
Safe, professional and private
Working with children is a responsibility we take seriously from day one:
- ✓ Written parent consent and clear attendance records
- ✓ Clear drop-off and collection arrangements
- ✓ POPIA-aligned handling of your family’s information
